JOB DESCRIPTION
Direct Support Professionals (DSP) provide attendant care, skills training and companionship services to individuals with I/DD (intellectual or developmental disabilities) in their own homes and communities who need assistance caring for themselves. NWKS dsp’s provide innovative, transition curriculum and support services that align with the clients’ desired outcomes on their Individual Service Plan (ISP) with a primary focus on independent transitioning and encouragement of community involvement. Services may also include assistance with light house cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, transportation and companionship. DSP’s are responsible for ensuring that services are delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with NW Konnection Services and State of Oregon policies. Hours are flexible depending on your availability and the client’s needs. It is a priority of NWKS to ensure successful client/dsp matches which may take from 1-4 weeks after completion of the intake process.
RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide companionship, friendship and emotional support to clients and sometimes families.

Implement transition curriculums and software program with clients

Participation with clients in company socialization activities

Help keep clients in contact with family, friends and the outside world.

Provide transportation to medical appointments, grocery store and errands as listed in ISP

Encourage and accompany clients to recreational and/or social events.

Teach/assist with IDL/IADL tasks as needed

Provide excellent customer service and communication to clients

Ensure services are delivered in accordance with NWKS policies, ISP desired outcomes and industry standards.

Complete daily narratives and quarterly reports in accordance to ISP desired outcomes and return within required timelines.

Develop and maintain a cooperative, solution-oriented working relationship with clients/families, colleagues, management and others.

Represent NWKS in a professional and courteous manner

Attend in-service training sessions and staff meetings as requested

REQUIREMENTS
Must be 18 years or older
Pass a background check
Have basic knowledge and understanding of technology
Have access to computer/tablet and working, in service phone
Current driver’s license with clean driving record or access to public transportation
Proper vehicle insurance coverage for those with driver’s license
Physical ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear and see.
First Aid/ CPR certification (Cost will be reimbursed for initial class at 3 months employment)
Complete state required DSP Core Competencies and Abuse Training (online courses)
